I challenge you today to begin labeling yourself as an educator. And I mean on top of all of your other amazing titles like fearless parent, rockstar nanny, amazing caregiver and more. In this post, we will be talking about the benefits of adding educator to your list of amazing titles.
Benefit #1 Recognizing Yourself As An Educator is a Form of Empowerment in Your Work
It is so important to feel confident and empowered in your work with babies and toddlers. Imagine waking up everyday, standing in that Superman position, and considering that YOU are an educator ready to take on your day of teaching your sweet babe.
Benefit #2 Leads to Interest in Professional Development
As an educator, you have the opportunity to recognize the uniqueness of each child’s journey. Have you noticed big differences even between siblings? And taking that one step further… even between twins?!
Each child is so beautifully different. It is important to continuously grow with the wide variety of situations that children present as they develop. And perhaps adding educator to your list of titles will offer the right inspiration to do so.
Benefit #3 We are inspired to Take Ownership of What We Teach
The first couple years of life set the foundation for the rest of that child’s life. It’s so vital to recognize that they are absorbing everything (making tons of mental connections every second). This is everything from their interactions with their attached caregivers, familial interactions, environment interactions and more.
Let’s always consider how we affect our babies; from the things we model, to how we set up their environments, to what we implement in those first couple years.
Benefit #4 We Are Forced to Recognize our Teaching Styles
As an educator, it is important to recognize how we are inclined to teach and guide our babies vs. how they best learn.
For example: Perhaps you recognize that you have power struggles throughout your day that could be fixed by a shift of approach?
Benefit #5 Being an Educator is an Opportunity to be a Life-Long Learner
I love everything about being an educator. But one of my all time favorite reasons I love being an educator is that I currently am and will forever be a life long learner. I think it’s important to take the perspective that there is always room to grow and to always seek higher understandings of ourselves and our work.
You know how Alice in Alice in Wonderland was always curious… well take those curiosities and learn, grow, and evolve in to everything you can be!
You’re doing amazing work, friend. Keep it up!
